Rock The Week #97

Fashion related (and totally non-fashion related) things that have made my world go round over the last seven days…

Lush Ickle Baby Bot-polaroidShip-Shape 2.0

The revamping of Ship-Shape has rocked my whole month and I’m so happy to finally be hosted. Thank so much to everyone who has commented on the new look – to say thank you there is a little Benefit giveaway taking place right now. I’m still getting to grips with CSS and plugins so if you notice anything amiss with the site, please tweet me!

Welsh hills

This weekend we celebrated a friend’s 30th birthday in the Welsh cottage that housed us over New Year. The three day celebration was characterised by balloons, walking in the rain (not intentional, nor as romantic as it might sound) and midnight cheese feasts. With 11 of us under one roof it was snug, rowdy and perfectly chaotic and relaxing at the same time.

This week I’ve been…

Blogging about: This little ‘ol website’s redesign and a celebratory Benefit giveaway the recent Bristol Blog Meet and, better late than never, our New Year’s Eve retreat to the Welsh countryside.

Listening to: Bon Iver, Bombay Bicycle Club and the American Hustle soundtrack.

Watching: We finally finished the last season of Dexter this week and without any spoilers, I was left feeling rather disappointed with the ending. On the plus side, we also saw American Hustle, which I loved. The performances, the outfits, they teeny-tiny hair rollers… it was a riot of seventies pop culture and Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper were both fantastic.

Reading: The Girl You Left Behind, by Jojo Moyes – borrowed from a friend, this story of a French WWI victim and a modern-day widow united by an oil painting, started off slow but was surprisingly gripping as it reached its climax. An article on the design of mannequins in the January edition of Vogue also provided an insight into the buying power these stylish statues have over us.

Love the redesign, SJ! I didn’t make it past season 2 of Dexter–still love season 1–but I have heard that loads of people were disappointed with the ending. It doesn’t make me want to spend hours watching the rest of the seasons only to end on a bum note…

Looking forward to watching American Hustle at some point, though! Jeremy Renner…need I say more?
