Rock The Week #100

Rock The Week hits 100100

Rock The Week has hit a milestone – this is my hundredth post, which marks roughly a second year of celebrating the little things that make life great, from an interesting article I’ve read or a delicious new recipe I’ve tried. It’s a catalogue of happy, for me to look back on hopefully for you to enjoy reading. However it’s also the one that it seems you read the least, so I’m wondering if you enjoy these weekly snippets of life? I’ve been thinking for a while about doing a monthly round-up post instead of a weekly one, so I’m opening the floor to you guys – do you like reading Rock The Week posts or do you prefer reading about the other bits and bobs I waffle on about? All suggestions/comments/criticisms welcome!

Silver lining

For the last seven days I’ve been battling tonsillitis and had to take three days off work at the start of the week because I was so wiped out. I missed a trip to London, have been unable to exercise and don’t even have a sexy, husky voice to show for it, à la Phoebe in Friends. This hasn’t rocked, far from it, but I’m all about looking for the silver lining, which in this case is watching more Buffy The Vampire Slayer, revisiting the piece of embroidery I’ve been working on, and consuming my body weight in ice cream, which is a totally ligit and purely for medicinal purposes…

This week I’ve been…

Blogging about: My Man Repeller inspired outfit, a masculine ensemble which features a thrifted shirt that Mr Ship-Shape bought back from America for me.

Listening to: Lorde, Lorde and more Lorde. This playlist is one of my favourites.

Watching: Aside from far too much Buffy, I also watched a Google Hangout with WGSN that Disneyrollergirl featured in, focusing on the place of bloggers on the international Fashion Week circuit. Navaz is one of a number of consultants on the BFC’s Blogger Strategy so it was really interesting to see her and other new media fashion ‘insiders’ talking about where bloggers fit in to the fashion week landscape.

Reading: Lucy Foster’s piece for Stylist magazine, Feminism. Must Try Harder, really resonated with me when I read it this week. Feminism seems to be in the spotlight at the moment but this article shows how far it has to go before equality between the sexes is truly balanced.

So sorry you have been so unwell, but more Buffy is always a good thing! Hope you are feeling better now.

I hope you are feeling better! And I’ve been listening to Lorde nonstop, too!

Oh no! Hope you’re feeling better now (I imagine Buffy and ice-cream makes everything better).

We started re-watching Buffy recently and it’s so weird how scripted everything seems – makes you realise what shows like The Hills and Made in Chelsea have done to develop the way TV is made

I am so crap at replying! I am indeed better now and already half way through season 5 – corny as this show was (or at least it feels like now), I’d take it over all the ‘scripted reality’ type shows there are now – so boring!

I hope you are feeling better although any excuse to watch Buffy is OK with me! I love these posts, it’s a really nice way at catching up with your blog (I am always behind with commenting!)

Lucy Foster’s article was really interesting. I wrote about feminism last week after I was not accused of not doing my bit for feminism, which I dispute.

I hope your tonsils are all better now.
