Jumpsuits and Great (Summer) Expectations

Baylyage Heidi braidsIt’s getting to that stage here in Bristol where it might finally be an option to leave the house without a coat, or at the very least with just a blazer or a wrist-grazing biker jacket. That’s exciting because it means summer is nearly here, and boy, does Bristol look good in the summer.

You could probably say the same of most cities, but Bristol has something special about it at this time of year. Here are some distinctly Bristolian pastimes I’m looking forward to as the temperature rises…

Harbourside drinks – sitting outside the Arnolfini and dangling your legs over the edge of the harbour is an activity reserved for Bristol’s warmest months. People watching as tourists and locals go about their business on the other side of the harbour is in ideal way to relax after a day at work or uni.
Graffiti spotting – it’s a year-round activity when you live on Banksy’s home turf, but in the summer the artwork really comes alive, especially at the huge See No Evil outdoor gallery in Broadmead.
Watching circus performers in St Andrews Park – this small park, located behind Gloucester Road, is packed in the summer, and you can guarantee one corner will be reserved for hula hooping, poi practice and diablo juggling. Oh, and perhaps the odd snake charmer, too…
St Pauls Carnival – a riot of bright colours, loud music and the smell of jerk chicken, this one-day carnival is a big deal in the city and (almost) always guarantees gorgeous weather. Shoes you can dance in are a must…

I’m also looking forward to picking out clothes without having to consult the weather forecast first, and this sleeveless graphic print jumpsuit from Wallis is top of my list to wear – umbrellas be damned!

What local events are you most looking forward to this season?

I wish I could leave the house without a jacket at the moment, unfortunately it has been raining all day and I have to wear a coat, even though it’s technically a little too warm for it. I miss being in Bristol, I loved having drinks by the harbourside, I’ll have to make a trip there soon. Ps – you look lovely :). xo

Oooh, I looove this jumpsuit on you! It’s perfectly styled with the biker. I love Bristol in the sunshine, especially the harbourside. :)

Ace jumpsuit! Have I mentioned that my husband was a student in Bristol for 8 years (he stayed and did a phd just so he could enjoy it for longer!). I’m sure he would get misty-eyed if he read this post. Hope we can get down for a nostalgia trip one day soon.
