Steve Madden Sandals + Flower Power

perfect summer outfitHello? Summer, is that you? These last two weeks I’ve tentatively carried an umbrella in my bag, just in case, but I haven’t had to use it once. Naturally the day I shunned it, which is the day these photographs were taken, was the day that a freak rain shower came out of nowhere. Not only was I sans umbrella that day, I was also trying out these Steven Madden sandals, kindly sent to me by House of Fraser, for the very first time – what are the chances, eh?

There’s always that first outing of the year in sandals when your feet curse you by rubbing, almost like a physical protest to being dragged out of comfortable Chelsea boots and brogues. This sandals were no different, but we’ll let them off as they’re so pretty. The gold detail and tan leather give them the edge over my ancient, worn-out Primark sandals, and I’m looking forward to taking them on holiday with me in a couple of months.

When the sun comes out I always reach for this pleated midi skirt, a cast-off from Grandma Ship-Shape, and although we were only popping to the shops when these photos were taken, I decided to go all-out flower power and wear this floral crown, too. This is a slightly different version from the floral crown tutorial I posted last week, using a headband (worn backwards) instead of a wire hoop, but the principle is the same. I’ve already made several crowns – I can’t wait to take them to Glastonbury with me!

Have you ditched your umbrella and started dressing for summer yet?

Love the floral crown and the colours of that skirt are fab. It always seems to be the way that the rain comes out as soon as the sandals are on! Hx

Thanks Helen – the skirt is an old favourite that comes out every year. I think I have the worst luck when it comes to weather and footwear, though at least the last couple of weeks have been sandal-friendly :)

That’s just typical british weather – I’ve had many unfortunate experiences of being without an umbrella during the mightiest of downpours too!

You look lovely here – the print on your skirt is so pretty. xo

At least your feet dry off quickly in sandals. That pair are gorgeous.

Lovely summery outfit and I love that you’re wearing your gran’s skirt (and rocking it). Also, you were made to wear floral crowns. Trust you had a blast at Glasto – I’m always so envious of the way you get to go every year :) x
